The Planning Department is dedicated to helping the City of Cody achieve the community's vision for the future. The staff seeks to improve the quality of Cody's built environment, to protect scenic and environmentally sensitive areas, to ensure provisions for needed public facilities, to assist community members in understanding community development, and to improve the community's quality of life.

The staff is committed to:

• Providing professional, efficient customer service.
• Helping to communicate basic planning principles.
• Promoting greater understanding of the City's Zoning and Subdivision Codes and Community Master Plan.
• Guiding development in the City through professional analysis and policy and regulation development.
• Finding practical, common sense solutions to planning concerns.
• Supporting and serving the City's Planning and Zoning Commission.

The City of Cody also uses a Governing Body appointed volunteer Planning and Zoning Commission to adopt rules relating to planning and zoning matters and to hear and decide on matters referred to the board. The Planning and Zoning Commission generally meets the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at 12:00 noon in the City Hall Council Chambers. The meetings are televised live on Public Access Channel 16 within the Cody City limits.
