The City of Cody is governed by a Mayor elected at-large, and six Council Members elected to serve three Wards.  In 1998, the Governing Body passed a Charter Ordinance moving day-to-day operation of the City's functions to a professional City Administrator; while still allowing the community to continue electing  the Mayor and Council members.

Mayor and City Council





Mayor
Mayor Nancy Tia Brown's term of office began in January of 2009. She is a long-term member of the community and has served on many boards, including six years on the Park County School District #6 Board. Brown is also a local business owner. Ward 1 Council Members:


Jona Vanata was elected to the City Council in 2007, and will serve in this position through 2010. Council member Vanata can be contacted at 307-587-2714, or by email at jvanata@cityofcody.com.




Charles Cloud began his four year term in January of 2009, and will serve in this position through 2012. Council member Cloud can be contacted at home at 307-587-5052, on his cell 307-250-2146, or by email at ccloud@cityofcody.com.


Ward 2 Council Members:



Samuel Krone was elected to a four-year City Council term that began in January of 2003. He was re-elected to office in November of 2006, and his term of office will continue through 2010. Council member Krone can be contacted at 307-587-4530, or by email at skrone@cityofcody.com.



Jerry Fritz was elected to a four-year term beginning in 2009. He will serve in this position through 2012. Council member Fritz can be contacted at 307-587-3318, or by email at jfritz@cityofcody.com.



Ward 3 Council Members:



Stan Wolz was appointed to City Council in 2009. He was appointed to fill the unexpired term of Mayor Nancy Tia Brown.  He will serve in this position through 2010. Council member Wolz can be contacted at 307-899-5687, or by email at swolz@cityofcody.com.




Steve Miller was initially elected to a four-year term beginning in 2005. He was re-elected in 2008 and will serve in this position through 2012. Council member Miller can be contacted at 307-587-2156, or by email at smiller@cityofcody.com.



All City Council members can also be contacted through the City of Cody's general e-mail address at codycity@cityofcody.com. Council meetings are held the first and third Tuesday of each month, at 7:00 p.m.,  and are broadcast live on Public Access Channel 16. 

City Administrator

McFerrin Anderson "Andy" Whiteman, Cody's City Administrator, moved from California with his wife, Jeanne, to take the position in early 2007.

The City Administrator is appointed by the Governing Body and serves the community through guidelines established in the Charter Ordinance. The Governing Body establishes goals, policies and initiatives, and adopts an annual budget for the staff to implement during the year. The City Administrator uses all available resources to ensure the goals are met on behalf of the Cody community.
