Drivers work Monday through Friday to empty residential containers and Monday through Saturday to empty commercial containers. There are no pickups on holidays observed by the City.
2017 Holiday Pick up Schedule
Customers with roll-out containers will receive one pickup per week for their household trash container.
Roll-out Yard Waste Program
In July of 2014, the City of Cody began offering a yard waste collection program to roll-out customers. This program provides roll-out customers with a separate container to be used for grass, mulch, and leaves. Yard waste containers will be picked up on Thursday from May 1 through October 31.
The "green" yard waste collected in these containers is being delivered to a local farm for composting. Due to this it is asked that customers participating in this program restrict their chemical use to products approved for residential lawn care. Unlike commercial grade products the chemicals in these will often break down in just a few days or weeks. Persistent Herbicides, those containing the active ingredients aminopyralid, clopyralid, picloram, and aminocyclopyrachlor, are known to persist in compost for several months, and up to several years, and can cause damage to some plants.
Customers must call 587-2958 to opt in for this service.
All roll-outs must be out on the street edge, or in the designated painted location for cul-de-sacs, prior to 7:00 am the day of pick up.
Roll-out assistance is provided for qualified disabled and elderly households. For more information call 587-2958.
Items that may not be placed in any container include:
- Automotive parts
- Billboard materials
- Building materials
- Hazardous materials
- Silt and rocks
